A Monopoly-Inspired Lesson on the Credit Crisis
Here at DeltaHedged, we like to think of ourselves as somewhat prescient forecasters of society’s evolution. Thus, we want to be the first to go on the record predicting the creation of Barack Obama Day as a national holiday.
One of my favorite Beltway commercials is for an auto dealership named Eastern Motors. Eastern is famous for hiring local athletes like Ray Lewis, Clinton Portis, and LaVar Arrington to star in their commercials. Their catchy jingle urges the viewer to remember that at Eastern Motors, one’s “job is [his] credit,” and that prospective buyers should allow Eastern to “finance it all the way.” We can only hope that Eastern is weathering the financial storm better than its competitors.
